Literacy Service

The Adult Literacy Service provides confidential basic education including reading, writing and numeracy skills, to adults whose literacy and numeracy skills are inadequate for functional participation in social and economic life.

Priority is given to those most in need, in particular those possessing a literacy level below FETAC foundation level.

However adult literacy participants may be offered courses up to FETAC level 4 or leaving certificate provided that the number of participants on such higher courses does not exceed 10% of the total participants in adult literacy.

The Adult Literacy Service is provided through 9 Schemes, listed below. The Literacy Service is totally confidential.
